Jim McArdle joined Export Development Canada (EDC) as Legal Counsel in 1993 and became Senior Legal Counsel in 1994. In these roles, he handled numerous project financing transactions in the mining, oil and gas, telecom and power sectors, as well as asset-backed financing and insurance. He was appointed General Counsel and Senior Assistant Secretary in July 2002. In February 2006, he was named Senior Vice-President, Legal Services & Secretary, responsible for Legal, Security and Secretariat. Since that time he has also become responsible for Access to Information, Record Information Management as well as Environmental Assessment and Corporate Responsibility at EDC.
Prior to joining EDC, Mr. McArdle was a member of a national law firm based in Toronto, Canada, for 10 years handling primarily M&Aand banking transactions.
Mr. McArdle holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics) and a law degree from the University of Western Ontario. He was called to the Bar of Ontario, Canada, in 1983.
