KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Justice Ellen Gracie Northfleet
Studied Justice Administration at the American University as a fellow of the Fulbright Program. She is a former Federal Attorney and Judge of the Federal Court of Appeals. First woman to serve on the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court from 2000 to 2011, where she was Chief Justice (2006-2008), as well as president of the National Justice Council. Justice Gracie continues to work as an attorney and arbitrator in Brazil.

Ms. Elena Landau
Holds a master's degree in Economics from PUC-RJ, where she was a Professor (1981-2004). She is the coordinator of the Regulation in the Energy Sector program at FGV. Studied Economics in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - MIT. She also acted as a director of the National Social and Economic Development Bank - BNDES. She is currently a consultant at a renowned Brazilian law firm.

Professor Carlos Alberto Carmona
Holds a specialization degree from the Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell Università degli Studi di Napoli and a Doctor's degree from University of São Paulo (USP). Besides teaching at USP, Professor Carmona integrated the committee responsible for drafting the Brazilian Arbitration Act, and has been appointed to act as arbitrator in over 370 cases.

Justice Ricardo Villas Bôas Cueva
Holds an LL.M degree in Tax Law from the Harvard Law School, as well as a Doctor's Degree in Environmental Tax Law from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität. Former National Treasury Attorney and a commissioner of the Brazilian Administrative Council for Economic Defense - CADE. He was appointed to the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice in 2011.
